Housing Benefit

Housing benefit is a supplement to your rent. You can apply for housing benefit if you are renting your home. If you are a pensioner or claim early retirement pension you can also apply for housing benefit if you own your home or live in cooperative housing.

How much am I entitled to in housing benefit?

Your housing must have a fitted kitchen in order for you to claim housing benefit. How much money you will claim depends on:

  • The rent
  • The size of the house
  • The number of people living in the household
  • The household income

You can make a preliminary calculation to see if you are entitled to housing benefit
