ViTos welcoming class is a class for newly arrived pupil’s from 0.-6. grade. 20 lessons are taught a week and pupils attend the class for up to12 weeks.

The education is organised according to each individual pupil’s language requirement. The purpose is to introduce the pupils to Danish school and to introduce the first words and sentences.

The pupils will finish welcoming class when they are sign up for a school and class in one of Gentofte Kommunes schools. The transition from welcome class to district school will normally take place within 2- 12 weeks. ViTo will contact the district school, the teacher and establish contact with the after-school facility.

The lessons in the welcoming class take place Monday to Friday from 8.00 – 11.30 am. at Bakkegårdsskolen.

Pupils starting school

Pupils starting school

Pupils in grade 0, who need basic Danish instruction, in order to start school, will receive two individual lessons from August to October. It is thereafter decided if the pupil is to continue with basic Danish instruction, begin in a network class and receive individual lessons or if the pupil should begin in grade 0 without receiving any basic Danish instruction. Staff is always offered supervision

“The little network”

“The little network” is for children from 1.-4.  grade who are attending a district school. 2x 4 lessons are taught over 2 days and the lessons are organised according to each pupil’s language requirement. Individual targets and actions plans are made. The purpose is to strengthen the pupil’s language proficiency and communicative skills. Apart from the network lessons, the pupil’s receive 2 individual lessons a week at the district school. The pupil will finish network class when it is assessed that the pupil no longer requires basic instruction in Danish. The evaluation is made by ViTo in collaboration with the district school.

The lessons in the network class take place Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.00 – 11.30 am. at Bakkegårdsskolen.

“The big network”

“The big network” is for pupils from 5.-7. grade who are attending  the district school. The hours and conditions are the same as in “the little network”.

The lessons in the network class take place Tuesday and Wednesday from 12.00 – 03.30 pm. at Ungdomsskolen.
