State pension and subsidies

State pension is a monthly income for older Danes who have reached retirement age. As a pensioner, you can apply for a health subsidy, which gives you an allowance for medicine, for example.

Good to know

  • Retirement age in Denmark is between 65 and 68, and depends on when you were born.
  • To receive the state pension, you must be a Danish citizen, live in Denmark and
    have lived in Denmark for at least three years after the age of 15.
  • You have to apply for the state pension yourself.
  • If you are a pensioner and have assets worth less than DKK 89,800, you can apply for a health allowance.
